Hi, I’m Heather.

I copyedit fiction and small business materials

(and I also write).

No one is closer to your writing than you. That’s how it should be.

But what if readers can’t connect with your message?

Everything on the page will be new to your readers.

They may spot the typos your familiar gaze skips or miss a crucial point that was mistakenly swept away. They might puzzle over conflicting information or stumble at a shift in tone.

Issues can easily occur, but they risk breaking the connection between a text and its audience.

An editor will review your project as closely as possible.

We recognize what needs to be corrected, double-checked, or questioned, so your attention can stay focused where it belongs: on the art and craft of your writing.

As your editor, I’m an ally, a reader who is trained, thorough, and dedicated to your project.

I’m an editor with a Certificate in Copyediting from UC San Diego, an MEd focused on literacy, a BA in Literature, and experience performing content edits and copyedits since 2017. Some of my favorite genres to edit are YA/NA/Adult romance, mystery, fantasy, speculative, and literary fiction.

I also love working with small businesses to make sure their messaging is clear, accurate, and effective. I’m happy to edit marketing or other materials, in addition to web content.

I enjoy writing, too, and have written both fiction and creative nonfiction. Seymour Greenleaves, my picture book about a little giraffe who goes looking for family on the African savanna, is my most recent release.

Heather, all I can say is, ‘Wow!’ I consider myself blessed to have had such a knowledgeable and creative editor. You have taken my manuscript to the next level. I can’t thank you enough.

Hard to believe it had a going over by an exceptional and multi-published author, as well as some other very smart people, and we still missed all that you found. Talk about a wakeup call!”

I just want to say how smart your edits are. Also how clean—I think this is the cleanest editing I’ve seen on this project, which we’ve been doing for many years.

I’m very happy with your work. Thanks for being so conscientious!”

You are *very* good at what you do, Heather, and I’m grateful that we’ve had this chance to work together. FWIW, I’ve never had a more thorough editing job done on my work for content and line editing. I got lucky!”

Mystery and Contemporary Romance Author
I appreciate all the work you put into it, and I learned quite a bit from you. Thank you for that. Anything that helps me improve as an author is invaluable . . .

This has been an inspiring and educational experience, and I deeply appreciate it.”
