Hello! I’m Heather, an editor, writer, mom to my three favorite people, and sidekick to a muddle of rescue pets. I love to read, write, laugh, garden with native species, and collect too many houseplants. I also love collaborating with other writers and small business owners. Why? We share the same goal: for your writing to be at its best.

I’ve been part of the writing and editing community for several years, and during that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work with new, established, and award-winning authors from a variety of backgrounds. The experience has been and continues to be both a pleasure and an honor. Whether you’re an author who’s planning to self-publish or submit traditionally or a small business owner who wants to connect with customers, I’ll be rooting for your success and devoting the best of my skills, experience, and knowledge to help you get there.

I’ll give your project my all, because it matters to you and to me, and it will matter to your readers.

Are you looking for an editor?

I have training and experience, including

  • a Specialized Certificate in Copyediting from UC San Diego’s respected program
  • degrees in literature and literacy-focused education
  • experience performing copyedits and content-based edits since 2017. I’ve edited business texts as well as memoir and several fiction genres, including romance, mystery, fantasy, and young adult.

I know how to bring out your strengths.

  • I have a background in education, including an MEd (with a literacy concentration).
  • This knowledge helps me address your writing needs while enhancing your strengths and voice.
  • My goal is to benefit your current and future writing.
  • I’m happy to tailor my edit to your preferences and can give you detailed or streamlined feedback.

I’m also a writer.

I’ve written both fiction and creative nonfiction. This means

  • I know how challenging it can be to take a story from rough draft to final copy.
  • I understand how it feels to be edited, both kindly and not-so kindly.
  • I’ll honor your vision, respect your creative efforts, and protect your unique voice (while choosing kindness).

I love to read.

I’m a bookworm with a BA in Literature, and I read
